A series vanadyl pyrophosphates modified by different additives were used as catalysts for the oxidation of n-butane to maleie anhydride(MA). Their performance were investigated and found that adding of various promoters improved the catalytic performance remarkably on both conversion and selectivity. It was also found that increase of surface area would result in the higher activity, but the selectivity associate with turnover frequency.
