Fatty acid derivatives phase change materials have good thermophysical properties, thermal and chemical stability, and are a category of organic phase change materials that possess excellent heat-storage performance as well as ease of integration with buildings. They can combine with the traditional building materials to efficiently re- duce building energy consumption and conduce to energy saving and comfortable indoor environment. The present arti- cle reviews the research progress of fatty acid derivatives used as phase change materials and their main applications in buildings, and summarizes the current issues in their building applications. Finally the further development trends are analyzed and discussed.
