In the present paper, the authors first introduce some experiments on adhesion abilities and related mechanisms for animals and insects. Then we focus on some theoretical studies on bio-adhesion. The biomimetic manufacturing method and its promising applications are discussed in the last section, together with some suggestions on the study of biomimetic adhesion mechanics.
