As a new type of the third generation solar cells, quantum dot-sensitized solar cells possess the ad- vantages of low cost, simple manufacturing process, and high theoretical conversion efficiency (-44%), thus have become a hot spot in the field of new energy. The development background and working mechanism of the quantum dot- sensitized solar cells are introduced, and foreign and domestic research status and development trend are exbounded. Finally, their research countermeasures and future prospects are presented.
