β-arrestins are multifunctional adaptor proteins, which mediate desensitization , sequestration , and recycling of G pro-tein-coupled receptors (GPCRs). Mounting evidence suggests that, in addition to regulation of GPCRs signals, β-arrestins also serve as modulators in a number of non-seven-transmembranes receptor-mediated signaling pathways. In a variety of malignant tumors, β-arrestins play an important role in proliferation, mi- gration and invasion of tumor cells by regulating GPCRs signals and other signaling pathways. β-arrestins also participate in the pathogenesis of malignant tumor. The role of β-arrestins in de- velopment of malignant tumor is reviewed in this paper.
