The research value and commercial value of human genetic samples and human genetic data become prominent day by day. Open science and open biotechnology advocate to achieve the open source sharing of human genetic data in order to form the "open source" research mode. It seems to impact the value and the role of the IPR system in the field of life science and technology research. Actually, in terms of human genetic data protection, the open sharing mode and IPR system are not mutually exclusive, but complementary to each other. Reasonable open sharing policy and specific IPR system can conlribute to the reasonable protection of human genetic data, and jointly promote the innovative development of life science and technology.
