Comparison between spatial data mining and traditional data mining is presented. The main approaches of spatial data mining and characteristics of them are discussed according to classifying them by motive, especially paying attention to approaches including spatial generalization, spatial association mining, spatial classification, spatial trend detecting, spatial clustering, spatial outliers detecting. A review of advance of spatial data mining is proposed. In conclusion, the main trends of spatial data mining are forecasted.
