Pteridophytes as commonly defined have a longer evolutionary history with a fossil record of more than 400 million years. In the past 10 years, with the use of all available ways, especially the advances in molecular systematics, many important progress toward a more complete understanding of the circumscription, origin and evolution of Pteridophytes have been made, which gave us many new insights into the origin and evolution of Pteridophytes, compared to the traditional perspectives.
