The current research progresses of knowledge study are analyzed in this paper. Aiming at the existing problems of knowledge study, a kind of knowledge lattice theory is presented. The knowledge lattice＇ s formal definition and its properties are given, and how to provide effective preliminary knowledge or foundational knowledge for users based on knowledge lattice is studied. The knowledge lattice theory is the generalization of traditional lattice theory, and it may be applied in knowledge engineering, knowledge management, knowledge grid, knowledge base grid and knowledge network. The knowledge lattice overcomes the shortcoming of current knowledge study.
