As a kind of housekeeping protein, pyrroline-5-carboxylate reductase（P5CR） exists widely in prokaryote and eukaryon, which catalyzes the last step in proline biosynthesis. In this paper, the biological function, extraction and purification of P5CR were introduced, and some representative P5CR inhibitors were also summarized.
