In rural China, some members who suffer from serious illness but can not obtain effecitve medical treatment, would try to use Christianity as an alternative treatment recently. Based on the case study of Chen Village in eastern Henan, the article argues that the localized Christianity provides a "reasonable" explanation system to farmers' disease treatment, that they can only get recovery through the way of "a combination of Christian faith and medical treatment". They gave a new meaning to " disease" and "suffering" as a way of god' s selection, and eventually some of them will convert to Christi- anity. The combination of disease treatment and religious understanding, to a certain extent, reflects the variation of multi- level individual development needs, especially manifested by the transformation from body treatment to spiritual belief. It is one manifestation of Christianity and its localization that farmers believe in Christianity because of illness.
