Mei symmetry and Mei conserved quantity of general holonomic systems are studied. Appell equations of a general holonomic mechanic system are established. The definition and the criterion of Mei symmetry of Appell equations under the infinitesimal transformations of groups are given. A research method between Mei symmetry and Mei conserved quantity is discussed for general holonomic systems. The existence condition and the expression of Mei conserved quantity which are deduced directly by Mei symmetry are obtained.
