With the utilization of high-efficiency molecular breeding technique,many achievements have been obtained on watermelon breeding in recent years.The research advance on molecular breeding of watermelon（Citrullus lanatus（Thunb.） Matsum.et Nakai.）,which covered marker-assisted selection breeding（MAS）,transgenic breeding and breeding by molecular design were summarized.Some problems towarded it and the corresponding solutions were pointed out.And its developing trend was indicated as well.
