The chemical structures of a liquid crystalline copoly （ester imide） （PEI） derived from N, N＇- hexane-1,6-diylbis （ trimellitimide ）, 4, 4＇-dihydroxybenzophenone and 6-hydroxy, 2-naphthoic acid （HNA） were studied by 1D ^1H and ^13C NMR. Detailed assignment of ^1H and ^13C spectra were further confirmed by 2D NMR techniques（^1H-^1H COSY, HMQC and HMBC）. The structure data obtained are valuable for the study of the chain structure and chain sequence of the liquid crystalline copoly（ ester imide） s.
