英文摘要：

Water is the most important resource in humans＇ living environment. It plays an essential role in regional economic development. This paper evaluates the bearing capacity of water resource and the correlation among total water resource, GDP and industrial production based on index model and correlation analysis. The result illustrates that the bearing capacity of water resource is much higher than population pressure in Wuwei, and the utilization of water resource is overloading. The coordination between the utilization of water resource and economic development is high, but the shortage of water resource has been the main restraint in regional economic development. Obvious phenomenon of low utilization efficiency of water resource exists in most areas of Wuwei, which can be solved by strengthening water resource management, controlling water resource pollution, changing farming style, improving water distribution scheme and so on.
