Marianne Moore's poems used the Chinese traditional aesthetics of poetry for reference and thus enlarged the artistic scope of contemporary American poetry. Many of her imageries bridged the cultural differences between China and the United States. Her poems promoted the transition of American poetic imagery by borrowing the general aesthetic principles of interconnection among Chinese poetry, painting and calligraphy and thus helped to bring about an interpretative community in the artistic dialogue between the two countries. She not only created many cultural images with the function of symbol and freehand brushwork in her poetry, but also built a kind of love for and identification with Chinese culture which is centered on the Chinese Dragon.
