Through the analysis of the traditional algorithm,this article summarizes the current research status of image enhancement,the new algorithm is introduced and evaluated,among them,the new algorithm points for six directions： partial differential equation（PDE） the direction,wavelet theory direction,wavelet theory direction after,optimization method,quantum theory direction and the other direction of image enhancement method,this paper introduces the evaluation standard of image enhancement method and analyzes the image enhancement development direction and the problems to be solved.
