The effective removal of potassium aluminate and potassium carbonate from the sub-molten salt is of great importance before it is recycled as reaction media in the new cleaner production technology of chromate. Some solubility data for the KOH-K2CO3-Al2O3-SiO2-H2O system at 95 ℃ and 40 ℃ were determined and the equilibrium solid-phase K2O· Al2O3 · 3H2O, i. e. KAlO2 · 1.5 H2O, and K2CO3 · 1. 5H2O was indentified by XRD analysis. The research provides a thermodynamic basis for the process control of the cooling crystallization of the sub-molten salt media to remove the impurities.
