Natural hybrid is common in Rhododendron species. Many new varieties of Rhododendron were cultivated by breeding in China and abroad. R. molle （B1.） G. Don and R. molle subsp, japoni- cum were used as experimental materials in this reseach, and the pollination biological characteristics, the interspecific crosses and selfing were carried out in order to study the compatibility and provide basics for cross breeding and new variety breeding of Rhododendron L.
