The development of follicles is an unusually complicated phenomenon. In this process, androgen, follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), anti-Miillerian hormone (AMH) and estradiol (E2) play vital roles. However, the interactions between these four hormones have not been fully understood so far. In-depth understanding of the interactions between them not only can complement our existing knowledge, but also can provide a theoretical basis for their application in the field of assisted reproduction. Based on the order of occurrence of these four hormones in follicular development, the article explains the interactions between androgen-FSH-AMH in gonadotropin (Gn)-independent stage and the in- teractions between FSH-AMH-E2 in Gn-dependent stage.
