This paper analyses the mechanism through which the financial system influence the service industry in a country or area. The entire service industry is categorized as finance and non - finance sectors, and the finance sector＇s development is measured by its scale and efficiency. Then, a production function of non - finance sector including the finance sector＇s efficiency is constructed. Based on the established two - sector model, the impetus function and spillover effects of financial development on the increase of service industry are investigated. To validate this model, the panel data of 31 provinces in China from 2002 to 2009 has been utilized for empirical testing.
