The paper summarizes the five schools doing research on industrial cluster, which are new economic geography school, new institutional economic school, new competitive economic school, new economic social school and regional innovation school, particularly discusses the subject basis of different schools, their representative character, main viewpoint, research method, contribution and shortage, introduces the latest research trends on industrial cluster, analyses the complementary and convergence among different schools, and points out that the problem of knowledge has been the hot topic of the industrial cluster research.
