This paper sorts out the important research literature under the theme of ＂institution and trade＂, summarizes the main perspectives of representative literature in the study of the impact of institution on trade and its research findings, briefly analyzes the different roles played by geography and institution in trade, investigates the relevant instrumental variable selection of institution, and also carries on a certain discussion on the institutional dividend in the implementation of ＂the Belt and Road Initiative＂. Finally, the paper points out the directions of future research.
