Lactic acid bacteria are recognized food-grade microorganism, and widely exist in the nature. A lot of function genes are encoded by their plasmids, which are apart from genomic DNA. The extraction method of the plasmids from Lactic acid bacteria, replication patterns and characteristics as well as the modification and application, were reviewed in this paper. The aim of this paper is to reveal the latest research progress of the Lactic acid bacteria plasmids. And it provides a reference for the modification of the Lactic add bacteria plasmids as well s construct- ing suitable gene engineering vectors.
