According to the basic theories of process engineering and their developing histories,considering the development of pharmaceutical industry of Chinese materia medica（CMM）,the process engineering features in all sectors of the CMM whole production process were discussed on the point of systematical engineering,and a wider concept of CMM process engineering was suggested.Its research contents were analyzed and lastest achievements were reviewed in this paper.
