This review outlines the recent progress in synthetically useful photo-induced electron transfer （PET） reactions, including six parts： （1） general principles of PET reactions, （2） PET induced mesolytic cleavage and deprotection reactions, （3） PET induced addition and cyclo-addition reactions, （4） PET initiated cyclizations and cascade cyclizations, （5） asymmetric PET reactions, and （6） microreactor-controlled PET reactions.
