The imbalance of Th1/Th2 is the main pathogenesis of asthma in children. T-bet and GATA-3 are the master regulatory transcription factors of Th 1 and Th2 respectively, and their ratio (T-bet/GATA-3) can be regarded as the indicator of Th1/Th2. Clara cell secretory protein(CC16), secreted by Clara ceils which are nonciliated epithelial cells and cover in terminal bronchioles, has anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidative, anti-fibrotic and immunomodulatory properties, and has a close relationship with pathogenesis and progression of asthma in children. Therefore, does CC16 restore Th1/Th2 balance and relieve asthma by acting on T-bet/GATA-3? The purpose of this review is to analyze the relation of asthma in children, CC 16 and imbalance of T-bet/GATA-3.
