According to the waveform characteristics of two typical FM signals （LFM and HFM）, we propose a feature analysis and extraction method based on the sub-band correlation analysis of FM signal echoes, and extract several statistical features. Simulation and sea trial data analysis show that, these features have good performance when used for classification between underwater man-made metallic objects and other naturally existing objects.
