Coumarinis are widely distributed in higher plants, such as leguminosae, orchidaceae, oleaceae and compositae. The application of coumarin in the pharmaceutical, chemical and pesticide application is reviewed. The methods of extracting from plants and chemical synthesis are introduced. Its current research focuses are presented and its future study progresses are proposed too.
