As a new kind of technology,the virtual reality is more and more recognized by geographical industries in recent years.In this paper,several key points are discussed on the application of virtual reality to construct Lishan mountain virtual 3D scenic area combining with RS＆GIS,including multilevel terrain construction,scene roaming controlling,multi-subject switching and database connection.The research of all these aspects would be significant to the virtual reality application to tourism.The Lishan mountain virtual 3D scenic area will promote the use of the virtual reality technology in tourism.
