基于非线性极化旋转(NPR)的阈值方案具有阈值功率点低、对色散不敏感等特点,但由于本身结构原因,其输出功率与输入功率成正弦关系,导致阈值性能不稳定。为了改善基于NPR阈值方案的性能,本文提出并实验研究了在输出端加可调带通滤波器(TBPF)的改进方案。改进后的阈值方案稳定了阈值输出功率,提高了阈值性能。同时,改进方案中采用的TBPF能够实现阈值功率传输曲线的调节,可适应不同系统的需求,改变了以往阈值器件因物理结构一旦确定而阈值性能不改变的缺陷。
The threshold scheme based on nonlinear polarization rotation (NPR) enables the colorless operation with low thresholding power. The performance of the thresholder is restricted by its physical structure, as the output power of the scheme varies in a cosine-like relationship with the input power. In order to improve the thresholding ability of the nonlinear polarization rotation (NPR) ,a modified scheme by adding a tunable bandpass filter is proposed and corresponding experiment is demonstrated. The mod- ified scheme provides more stable output power and higher thresholding ability. By adjusting the tunable bandpass filter,the modified scheme makes the NPR suit any condition and overcomes the drawback of the classical NPR predetermined by the physical setup.
