Four kinds of novel silver-based contact materials including silver-diamond, Ag-TiB2, Ag-Mg-Ni and silver-oxide contact materials were introduced. The research status of the four kinds of silver-based contact materials was discussed in detail, and the process, microstructure and properties characteristic of these contact materials were analyzed. Moreover, the effects of additives on the microstructure and properties of the contact material were analyzed. Finally, the development trend and application of these new type silver-based contact materials was put forward.
