A new Nd-activated nonlinear crystal, Na3 (La1-xNdx)9O3(BO3)s(Nd:NLBO)with x = 3%, was grown by the top-seeded solution growth (TSSG) method. XRD pattern revealed the crystal structure of Nd:NLBO was the same as the NLBO crystal. The segregation coefficient of Nd : NLBO (3%) was calculated to be 1.05. The absorption spectrum of the crystal were measured. The results showed that Nd:NLBO had a strong absorption band at 804 nm, the absorption cross-sections was 3.2 × 10^-20 cm^2, and the full- width at half-maximum (FWHM) was 6.3 nm. Nd : NLBO may be a potential self-frequency doubling (SFD) crystal.
