The authors analyse the practice of government in the competitive intelligence service to the SMEs（ small and medium-sized enterprises） in Canada. The competitive intelligence service which focuses on SMEs is leaded and implemented by the Canadian gov- ernment. The federal government, cooperating with local governments, industry associations, research institutions, universities etc. , establishes competitive intelligence service network all over the country, which provides SMEs with a wide range of competitive intelli- gence service by specific program or Canada business service center network. What Canada government has done could be a good exam- ple for Chinese SMEs competitive intelligence service.
