加拿大是一个多民族、多文化、多语言的国家,印第安人是加拿大的最早居民,在加拿大历史发展和文化变迁中具有重要的作用。对于原住民和少数民族来说,教育不仅是他们进入主流社会赢得社会地位的手段,而且是传承和发展其文化的有效途径。在加拿大印第安人教育发展的历史上,“印第安人控制印第安教育”运动具有里程碑式的意义。本文在分析这一运动历史背景的基础上,对这一运动的基本原则和主要内容进行了阐述,还探讨了这一运动产生的多重意义和对我国少数民族教育的借鉴与启示。
Canada is a country with multi-ethnic groups, muhi-cultures and multi-languages. Indians are the earliest residents in Canada, who played important role in the development of history and cultural change of Canada. For aboriginal people and ethnic groups, education is not only the way for them to enter the main stream of society and gain social status, hut also an effective way to inherit and develop their precious cultures. In the history of developing education for Indians in Canada, the movement of "Indians taking charge of Indian education" is of milestone significance. This paper, on the basis of analyzing the historical background of the movement, expounds on the basic principle, content, and significance of the movement and discusses its inspirations to ethnic minority education in China as well.
