The mankind faced with the serious threat of emerging infectious diseases which caused huge losses of life, property. It is a higher demand for health workers and medical teaching staff to progress their knowledge update and awareness of emerging infectious diseases. At present, the course of teaching about ＂Emerging Infectious Diseases＂ in medical colleges is still in its initiate phase. In this paper, we give a brief introduction on the definition and classification of emerging infectious diseases, and to elucidate the problem and shortcomings in the teaching of emerging infectious diseases, and further to discuss the new teaching mode of emerging infectious diseases. continuous optimization of the teaching mode and reform teaching content teaching quality for emerging infectious diseases.
