From the perspective of "place theory," this article analyzes the subject matters, points of view and linguistic features in Fire Diary--a poetry anthology by contemporary Australian poet Mark Tredinnick. Devoted to his place in both mental and physical sense, the poet fuses natural and social landscapes with his lyricism and meditation. With a strong consciousness of inseparability of human from place, the poet explores the question of being through his writing. In a contemporary context of the ever intensified place-deprivation, his works evoke a rethinking of the implication of"eco-poetry."
