Mesoporous molecular sieves have been a research focus in the community of material science and chemistry since it was discovered ten years ago due toits important potential applications in the large molecule ehemistry and the related processing technologies, Based on more than 140 references, a brief review is presented on its development, classification and synthesis methods including the selection of the inorganic precursors, usage and removal of the templates, pore size adjustment, eonditioning of morphology, experience in the synthesis process and analyses on the factors affecting the property of the material. Progress in the study of the formation mechanism and application of the mesoporous materials are also presented.
