Y_(1-x)Gd_xCrO_3 and YCrO_3 polycrystalline samples were prepared by solid state reaction and their magnetic properties have been studied. The thermomagnetic curve of Y_(1-x)Gd_xCrO_3 in field-cooled and zero-field cooled mode with applied field of 100 Oe exhibit negative magnetization behavior. This behavior stems from the antiferromagnetic interaction between Gd3+ and Cr2+ ions and can be fitted by the paramagnetic effect of Gd3+ ions. The negative magnetization can be adjusted by the applied external field, get restrained, and eventually disappear when the external field is high enough, in agreement with the internal magnetic field in the fitting result, i.e. the negative magnetization behavior arises when the external field is weaker than the internal magnetic field, and disappears on the opposite.
