The compesition,physical and chemical characteristics and pyrolysis properties of the deinking sludge were evaluated in this article. Some new utilizations of deinking sludge were summarized： （a） papermaking filler and coating pigment; （b） high-quality panel making; （c） soil improvement; （d） energy recovery from deinking sludge; （e）used as the filler of polymer composites and synthetic resin etc. Some of the novel technologies have already been successfully applied commercially.
