伽玛天文是中意合作的ARGO—YBJ宇宙线实验的主要物理目标,其中,宇宙线质子背景的排除对于该目标的实现有非常重要的意义。基于蒙特卡罗模拟产生的伽玛光子和宇宙线质子数据,利用ARGO合作组开发的Medea++重建程序,分析不同的重建方法下伽玛和质子事例各种分布的区别,提出利用伽玛与质子在重建中不同物理特性进行分析的重建稳健度(ReconstructionRobustness)与噪声容忍度(NoiseTolerance)方法。通过分析模拟产生的分别投点在探测器中心与整个探测器上的伽玛和质子事例,显示了该方法的一些特点,表明该方法对于宇宙线质子背景具有较好的排除效果。
Gamma astronomy is one of the main physics goals of ARGO-YBJ-a Sino-Italian collaborated experiment. The study on gamma/proton discrimination is of significant interest for this target. In this work, using the Monte Carlo simulated data for gamma and proton, by help of the Medea + + program of ARGO collaboration, the differences between gamma and proton,in a variety of distribu- tions with different event reconstruction methods, are investigated, and two methods named reconstruction robustness and noise tolerance are developed. The simulated data for gamma and proton,injected in the center and then the whole of the array,are analyzed with these methods, demonstrating some interesting features, indicating a potential way on gamma/proton discriminations, worthwhile for further study.
