The author investigated 558 college students in Kunming about their mobile phone reading behaviors through questionnaires and summarized the present situation and characteristics of college students’ mobile phone reading behavior. The findings are as follows： 1） It is not uncommon for the college students to read through mobile phones and they have become reliant on mobile phone reading; 2） College students’ mobile reading motivation is characteristic of diversity,entertainment orientation,and personalization; 3） college students’ mobile reading behavior tends to be superficial and extensive,and is typical of socialization. Families,schools and society should put emphasis on cultivating and encouraging the college students’ interest in reading,and be more concerned about and adapted to the tendency of college students’ reading through mobile phones.Also,they should guide the college students to make a balance between mobile phone reading and traditional book reading,helping them choose beneficial and useful reading materials.
