The county sustainable development ability was evaluated by the ecological footprint model based on the situation of dexing city,jiangxi province.The results showed that the ecological footprint of average in Dexing city has gradually improved from 2003to 2007,the resource consumption was still seriously,and the GDP ecological footprint of ten thousand has tended to decrease which meaned the economic transition had achieved initial success.However,the ecological deficit increased year by year which illustrated that the sustainable development existed certain pressure.
