America is the oldest country for trails construction all over the world, and is also the most perfect state for developing the National Trails System. This article reviews development history of the American National Trails System and the National Trails System Act, and describes the types of National Trails System, analyzes the competent departments, nonprofit management and the source of funds of American National Trails System. At last, the article puts forward some suggestions on the construction of our national trails system.
