Famous Scenic site historical geography is a research topic that explores its geographical evolution based on scenic resources. It is a branch of the regional historical geography, but also the special geographical ＂area＂. Firstly, the article defines and analyzes the four basic concepts of famous scenic site historical geography, which are border, characteristics, evolution and scale. On this basis three contents of famous scenic site historical geography, system evolution, the formation and development, the protection and utilization of scenic resources, are proposed. Then this article pointed out the lack of theory and methods on the research of famous scenic site historical geography, proposed to take positivism as the basis and apply the structuralism and humanism theories, and expounded the future research trends of famous scenic sites.
