After more than 100 years of development, although the material conditions for urban development and urban issues has undergone profound changes, but the three magnets Garden City theory still has non-negligible influence. Based on the review of Garden City Theory on achieving positive overall goals by ＂urban planning＂ way to shape the path of urban development, This paper reviews Garden City theory of sustainability content, and the gradual fusion process with sustainable development, and its progress to become the new theory to the city of tomorrow adapted to current urban development. Then the paper discusses the present enlightenment of sustainable urban development and urban-rural relations in China.
