The two parameters including n and α,in the characteristic curve model of sand soil were estimated by the soil water content at saturation,soil water content and soil water suction at field capacity. Samples of sand soil were used to test this method. Characteristic curve of soil water estimated by this method was in good agreement with measured characteristic curve. This method will provide a new and simple approach to estimate the soil water characteristic curve instead of the traditional equilibrium method.
