Substantial changes have been found in inducing factors and environments of surface and subsurface waterlogging due to the climate change and human activities. The emerging trend is the increasing portion of the damage caused by surface and subsurface waterlogging to the water-related damages. The new advances in fields of surface and subsurface waterlogging are summarized from a number of perspectives including waterlogging inducing factors, environments and sustaining-hazard body, operation rules for the pumping stations and lakes, etc. The main difficulties and the topics pending for future studies on waterlogging under climate change and human activities are suggested.
