By focusing on the negative forms of words and expressions containing the negative meaning in Japanese, this paper uses the image schema theory of cognitive linguistics to discuss the relation between spatial cognition and negative expression in terms of ＂inner/outer＂, ＂limit＂, and ＂center/edge＂, which proves that image schema can give a good explanation for the negative concept in the abstract world.
