Different definitions available of network system survivability are compared and the one essentially most accurate is pointed out.The research achievements of network system survivability are presented,including the decomposition of survivability and the properties,the quantitative evaluations,the architecture,and the design methods of survivable network systems.The unconquered difficulties of survivability research are reviewed and the possible further development directions are also discussed.
